To celebrate the joy of Christmas, let's have a class outing on 26th Dec!

The tentative plan is as follows:

12.30pm: Everlyn, Wilson, Yu Ming, Mitchell, Kaysiong and Edmund to meet to buy taiwan currency at a DBS bank outlet (closes at 1.30pm)

2pm - 5pm: MINDS Cafe for a fun-filled afternoon

5pm - 7pm: Dinner to fill our hungry stomachs after an afternoon of games

7.20pm - 9.30pm: Sherlock Holmes at GV Max for an unrivalled movie experience

Please RSVP as soon as you see this. Either on facebook if possible, or inform Everlyn. Please understand that we need to make the appropriate bookings as early as possible to prevent disappointments. A wait-and-see attitude is not allowed! Cheryl and Pauline insisted that they went for MAF when we were in J2 (that's 2007), so to prove them wrong, I'm going to post a year-by-year account of MAF from 2006 (when we were in J1)

2006:

And we had a KBox session at Paradiz just before that, and we went to the arcade to play this stupid quiz game thinggie...

So yes, we did celebrate Edmund's birthday with him with a moonCAKE and green tea, but that's not J2 but J1.

Denny's coming back to Singapore for just one day! Ok, he is expected to arrive at 11.40am at airport.

So, the plan is this. We'll have lunch at somewhere near school. Then we'll crash sch, maybe visit some teachers, play some bridge. Tentatively, there's an idea of going school in uniform. So pls try to find ur uniforms. Still can fit de, nth is impossible. xD Just bring it!

After that, we'll be going Zeqi's house to relax and interact lor. Can play card games or watch movies and stuff like that. All in all, it's a get-together session!

It's mambo night this Wednesday and dear 71 you are all invited to partake of this extravaganza of Singaporean youth engaging in coordinated flailing of limbs!

Entry + 2 free drinks is $23/ticket for gentlemen ($25 for those interested in Phuture, next door) and free without drinks (no big loss IMO) for ladies. First-timers aren't advised to come on their own anyway since it's damn chaotic outside and your contacts on the inside will rarely be able to hear/feel their phones ringing :)
Activities: Hopefully Makan, then Mambo! The event ends at 4am (we'll prob leave earlier) and Zeqi's parents have graciously allowed us to abuse our friendship with their son so as to locate temporary housing :)
What to Wear: Ask your friends, not me! I was nearly refused entry the first time I went for looking too young :(

Remarks: I called to make a reservation for 8 people, BUT I'm sure there are people who may not be able to make it last minute (like rebecca who has some meeting), and people who can come at the last minute (like mitch, sylvia, mingshu). The committee have met up and finalised on the following details regarding the class outing...

Date: 23rd May (Saturday)
Venue: Dhoby Ghaut area
Time: Late afternoon to late night
Plan: It will be broken up into 3 parts.

FIRST, we will first attack Mind's Cafe (possibly late afternoon...like 3+).
THEN, we will go for dinner tgt somewhere in the area. (after which we will proceed to do some shopping for foood!)
LASTLY, we will attack X's house for a movie marathon!!! (where X = gary goh, if he's free and we can stay over at his house that is, if not, my house should be free too)

Currently, suggestions for movies include "Emily Rose", "Shutter"....feel free to suggest any nice movies...would be good to suggest some comedies too.

Because of the movie marathon, the committee feels that it is imperative that we have a IC for that...so now..here are the key appointment holders for this upcoming event.

Class bench + people stoning = BRIDGE TIME!

When we first arrived at the class bench, it took us quite some time to decide if we are at our class bench, cause for one, the arrangement is a bit different, and the class bench beside our class is SUPER close to us now. So we look in the basket at the class bench for any notes/tutorials with names/CT grp...and we finally found this Maths APGP tutorial, and the tutorial actually indicate that the student is from 08S7A! So we panicked for a moment, thn we started looking around and finally found this "S71" tag! So yes, our class bench is still at that pillar, and we not only control the lights, but the fans too!

Yo all! Class blog's been stagnating like a mosquito hotel, and it's really sad to book out after getting knocked dumb for a week only to read webcomics. Update man people!

Ok to start the ball rolling, I want to talk about occurrences of our class's number in my army life. Trivial, but what's life without some redundant knowledge? So here goes:

BMT Day 1 (Enlistment day): I report to SAF Ferry Terminal with my family, and scan my IC. The duty personnel peels a yellow sticker off a sheet and hands it to me. Number: 71. That sticker's still on my 11B holder, but only 2/3 of it remains, and the number's a bit faded. Pretty coincidence.

OCS Day 1: My batch of cadets is the 71st lot to begin the course. Finishing is another matter, but another coincidence!

Coach leaving at 9pm and i think they need to check our passports before that.

We'll reach genting at early morning on Sat and we'll have no hotel rooms! (to cut costs)

So we'll deposit our luggages at my parents' room (sorry tht they are tagging along with us on this trip because they shun bian want to go on a trip too)

and then we check in at First World Hotel in noon.

10 guys(all except denny and wilson): 2 rooms
4 girls(me pauline cheryl alicia): 1 room

Check out on Sun noon, 16th of March

and we'll board the coach at 3pm so we'll reach singapore at around 10pm.

but there may be a jam at the causeway due to the escape of erm and let's hope erm gets apprehended soon lor.

Meet 2.30pm @ paya lebar mrt. If you are coming from town, take 16 it goes to a bus stop near my house, call me if u are coming from town, cuz you have to take another route to arrive. IF my ankle isnt swollen i will personally head down to the mrt to pick you all up, if not i will call someone and give directions. It's very simple directions, just take 2 bus stop down. Very very easy. You can take A levels means you can find my house.

For dinner, I cannot cater buffer cause everyone comfirm attendance super late =.= so, it will be decided on the day itself, we can order like tons of pizza or can try those like 933 stuffed chicken with rice kinda thing. Supper, breakfast the nxt day will also bao ga liao. So yeah it's all on the house, so EAT!

Those people who want to play mahjong one, find khaki and bring mahjong table urself haha, myhouse no mahjong table, you all can play into the night no worries, people who want to watch soccer on sat night, my house got cable so no worries you can crash here. yeap yeap, so those who staying over bring clothes etc, dun worry my house got enuff place to sleep so wun ask u all to sleep floor. Erm okae hi peeps, basically we have 2 outings coming up simply because, it's hard to find a date where everyone could make it, the MOF turn out was really good, but we missed out on some people like Ksiong and Zeqi who we all have not seen in ages. Besides the guys were suggesting a stayover cuz we missed that out on the day we went to MOF.

8th February [Chu Er of CNY, i just realised it's an auspicious date]
Meeting place : Buona Vista MRT control station
Time: 6.30 pm [DO NOT BE LATE - we still have to take a bus to HV]
Venue: One of the pubs at holland V which i already forget the name of, but it serves western food and has like live bands playing into the night.

I been there once with my friends, and Holland V pubs are excellent for chilling and hanging out for social gatherings, i apologize for the MOF screwed up sitting arrangement, because i was originally supposed to be given a VIP ROOM. it turn out to be a corner, so im sorry if people from two ends of the table cant interact, the pub kinda setting allows for better interaction. The ambience is really good, kinda like an open-air kinda thing. Erm do eat a little before u arrive if possible, because u can expect people to be late, and we still have to travel there.

16 FEB A saturday.
Venue: My (Jason) House @ paya lebar
Time: anytime from lunch onwards, people who wanna swim or play tennis or whatever bring ur own stuff to change into and rackets etc. the house will be empty, cuz my parents will be overseas, so yeah we can blast music and stuff with the home theater system, and play mahjong over night if those kakis interested. So yeap those who want to play mahjong bring table, cuz my house no table and the mahjong set. or alternatively we can play card games like poker or ban-luck if we have like chao duo people around.

I will probably spam mattresses so yeah those who need to sleep can sleep in my room, parents bed room or matress, but i doubt we will sleep xD Do comfirm ur attendance asap, cuz i need to order catering for dinner. so yeah dinner's on me, so dun pangseh and come help finish the food.

Okae, this like my 2nd class blog post ever since January in 2007 lol. So anyways, attendance for the class is roughly comfirmed, 16 people have already comfirmed their attendance and I already booked Ministry of Food @ Bugis Level 2 vip room which according to the in-charge i spoke too, can sit a max of 20+ people. For those who are curious what MOF is, basically some of us already been there @ marina square's branch, on new years' eve waitinf for count down, but niway it's some jap restaurant that has reasonable pricing. I would estimate the main course are around $8 ? Erm and the person assured me we can take our time there, they wont rush us off, simply cuz we are in the vip room. so she assured me we can just sit there and talk from 6pm till they need to close. When we were at the marina square branch, they kept refilling our green tea without additional charges, so that's a plus point xD

IF anyone has strong disagreement about the location, do voice out, there's still loads of time for a change and reservation.

As for the stayover, yuming agreed we can head to his house for stayover. This is kinda like tentative, because my understanding is that since most of the guys book out on thur fri, they would like to spend at least one day of their weekend with their parents or something. So as for stayover, it could happen, but basically if the turnout for stayover is bad, we can consider calling it off since it isnt exactly nice to go thrash yuming's new house. But if everyone's cool and steady, swee let's crash his house.

Knowing our class is infamous for being late, [I met a hc guy in tekong that takes bcme, he asked me what class. "71" "Oh! why u all always late for bio one ar?" ]
So yeap, let's say 5.30pm at bugis mrt control station.

NYE Gathering

Stoned at subway, before we proceed to rent bikes (not from uncle scorpion) and cycled from East Coast Park all the way to Changi Village, had drinks, and cycled all e way back again. 30km in all i think, afterwards our legs felt like jelly.

Day 1

We begin by vegetating on wink's sofa in his Jakarta home. What a great start ;)

Day 2

View from the balcony of wink's Jakarta house, situated in a presumably chinese-dominated neighbourhood. Facilities include a manmade river, guards that salute your car when you horn, and riot gates to protect against looters.

An army runs on it's stomach, and an army of 6 slacking holiday-makers is no exception. Noodles with chicken to start the 2nd day.

With reinforcements arriving in the form of yow, we set off by road for the ferry terminal, with Denny's driver at the wheel.

The car ferry that'll take us to Sumatra (aka Denny's island). With only *one* fire in the past 2 years it has an excellent safety record. By indo standards.

Since we've arrived safely in Lampung, Sumatra, food is again necessary for...

Lunch - we grin nervously at the mountain of food. This is for the 4 of us (fairygoh, mitchell, mundmund and me); another mountain looms beside bing, wink, and yow. Just looking at the food, you can feel the fat building up in you. The adults at the other table are busy discussing plans for world domination...

A shopping mall in Jakarta with a skating rink on the 3rd floor.

Gary's bespectacled tortoise. It's turned green from being held captive by fairygoh. Speculation is rife about the reason for the missing eye, but all possible explanations involve abuse by fairygoh.

All of us with wink's parents, who've been wonderful hosts throughout our stay.

Us with wink's driver, who skilfully weaved our car through indo's roads, which incidentally have more traffic police than traffic lights.

Clever fairygoh left his phone on during the flight. Thankfully, we're not sleeping with the fishes in the straits of malacca now.

Yow chastising fairygoh for his actions. Actually he had blocked eustachian tubes and was relieving the pain in his ears by playing whack-the-gary.

Good to be home.

- Yow will only be back on time for the 1.40pm Jetstar Asia flight on the TENTH (Not ninth), so consider changing ~9-~14 to ~10-~15? Anyway flight times are as follows:
-10th Dec: 1.40pm -> 2.25pm
7.55pm -> 8.35pm

-14th/15th Dec: 10.05am -> 12.40pm (More expensive, so we won't be taking this)
3.15pm -> 6.05pm
9.15pm -> 11.50pm

Total cost should be $243 for both ways.

- Next, the itinerary should be as follows:
-Half day to Jakarta (1+hour flight actually)
-1 day in Jakarta (Overnight at one of Denny's houses :P)
-Half day to B. Lampung (in Denny's island, Sumatra)
-2 days in B. Laumpung (Overnight at ANOTHER of Denny's houses :P)

lol...tt's true...but the ferry somehow isnt that sacry should be quite safe from terrorist attack, and its a damn big ferry, not a boat.....it can fit a lot of cars about 20 family cars and at the lower level like about 20 trucks.....its like titanic but it's the smelliestand dirtiest thing with many local people....so i suggest we dun go out to prevent getting attention....well there was once an incident recently, like 2years ago like the ferry was on fire but it is safe....so we can choose to play inside the car, play eat and sleep and talk....

1st. mus tell them that it wouldnt be full free trip, cos i think it wuld be quite ex if there are 8-10 ppl, so wad u guys need to pay probably would be things like playing arcades, tickets etc, and maybe lunch or dnner , or rather wad u guys dun have to pay is
1. sleeping ( in my hse) and transport
2. dinner and lunch ometimes ( but not everytime my parents will be providing, only when they go eat with us)
3. cant rmb liao

but mbe if there are only bt 4-5 ppl, the it will be quite diff

and 2nd thing is that, no guarantee it will be SAFE, lol but it should be.. and

where we will be gg is to JAKARTA 1st tehn my hometown (B.Lampung) ( u guys can check out 1st if u want), so wad we gonna do in jakarta is go shopping lor, gary would love it most, play timezone, and lan mayb ( but this is not guranteed cos in indo ppl nop longer play cs and dota, diff things are at vogue), watch movie, r play in my hse, jus like wad u all played in gary's hse..

then we wil be going to my hometown using a ferry ( takes about 5-7 hrs total)---1.5-2 hrs going to the port, then abt 2 hrs on the ferry, and then 2 hrs to the town.
so sfaety precatution is (IMPORTaNT)
1. anyone who might feel uncomfortable being in teh car for quite long ( 6hrs!!!, yu really can die, so might wanna ring pilow to sleep lol kidding or PSP), cos i ow have tis prob after taking bus so many times in sg
2. on the ferry the wind might be quite strong, sp at night, and my Sg friend who went to ido last time got sick becos he went out and take photo of the sea, then yeah last 3 days of his journey is at my hom suffering
3. it may not be as fun and nice as wad u guys think......now that we are reall gg to 3rd worlld country, the food is diff,,,i find it nice, but my Sg friend keeps saying its not as nice , guess he got no taste or perhaps we gotdiff taste bud....so yeah do consider this
4. not everyone in the mall understands el, unless we go the high class all. cos i think there are 3 diff malls, 1 is the high class one, all the artists and angmos and foreigners go one, and here we have super grand movie theatre, ( the cost should be quite ex, but considering my mom got the 2 get 1 free card so should be affordble) thenthe another high class one also but not as new, then the middle class one...here fewer ppl undertsnads el, but we got timezone, and iceskating

ok then at my hometown, mstly are sports...table tennis, tennis,, swimming, bowling,( lousy alley though), and badminton, BUT NO squash sadly..
lan maybe ( but the place is rather ulu, and cramped imagine 15 coms in 3/4 of our classroom), thenw e have car, those who want to learn, shold be quite safe cos can learn in safe place not roads, ps lor, i think u guys gotta bring cos mine spoilt le, and i dun play anymore, and rent vcd/dvd no adult content bu can choose to if u want lol, play soccer, cos u guys will be living in my spare house with big graden, and fishing rite in front of the hse...and hide and seek lol

so that's all...so guys, u guys mus take into consideration all of the above cos i think it wouldnt be as fun as u think it mightbe, jus like prom nite definitely, can be fun if we make it fun or else no man.....and decid if guys want to go, ur parets allow, and how long if yes, in jakarta and my howmtown and anothe rday on the ferry back and forth so taotal 2additional days...u will only be taking the plane from and to jakarta

i'll tell u abt the cost aprroxomately for each activity.....though u dun have to pay everything

The innocent world of the Teletubbies is under attack from America's religious right.

The Reverend Jerry Falwell, a former spokesman for America's Moral Majority, has denounced the BBC TV children's show. He says it does not provide a good role model for children because Tinky Winky is gay.

Cheerful Tinky Winky, the purple character with the triangular aerial on his head, carries a handbag - but apart from that seems much the same as his friends Laa-Laa, Dipsy and Po.
The characters are famous for their use of baby language, including the catchphrases "eh-oh" meaning "hello", and "uh-oh" for "oh dear".

But the Teletubbies have made the Rev Falwell, chancellor of Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, hot under the collar. He decided to "out" Tinky Winky in the February edition of his National Liberty Journal.

'Subtle depictions'

In an article called Parents Alert: Tinky Winky Comes Out of the Closet, he says: "He is purple - the gay-pride colour; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle - the gay-pride symbol."
He said the "subtle depictions" of gay sexuality are intentional and later issued a statement that read: "As a Christian I feel that role modelling the gay lifestyle is damaging to the moral lives of children."

In the same article he also condemned the US animated show South Park as "vile and impudent".

The Teletubbies, aimed at pre-school children, is immensely popular in the UK and around the world.

The show was first broadcast on US public TV last spring where it is now as popular as another children's show, Barney, a singing dinosaur. But perhaps parents should beware of Barney as well - he also happens to be purple.

'Absurd and offensive'

The Teletubbies are portrayed by actors in oversized, brightly coloured costumes. They all have television screens on their tummies and, according to the story line, live in a "chromedome" hidden in the hills.

Steve Rice, a spokesman for Itsy Bitsy Entertainment, which licenses the Teletubbies in the US, said : "The fact that he carries a magic bag doesn't make him gay.

"It's a children's show, folks. To think we would be putting sexual innuendo in a children's show is kind of outlandish.

"To out a Teletubby in a pre-school show is kind of sad on his part. I really find it absurd and kind of offensive."

A BBC spokeswoman said: "This is not the first time that people have read symbolism into a children's TV programme and it probably won't be the last.

"As far as we are concerned Tinky Winky is simply a sweet, technological baby with a magic bag."

Finally! the orders for the pullovers have been made yayyyy.

but point to note: we had too large a range of sizes so we had to cut down. all the girls who ordered size 38 will be automatically pushed to size 40. denny wijaya! 50=40+30i -.- u will be taking size 48 muahaha.

pullovers will be available in 2 weeks time! meanwhile, PAY UP! it's 28 bucks each :) i still owe my mum $200 for the deposit! aha.
